The Legends of Luke Skywalker Novel

New Star Wars Novel Links Luke Skywalker With The Battle Of Jakku
By Michael Briers

A collection of myths and tall tales about the legendary Luke Skywalker, all of which are designed to fill in some of the gaps between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
Told through the eyes of a young spaceship crew, that means those stories skate the line between truth and hearsay.

The Legends of Luke Skywalker provides some welcome context to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, with one excerpt, in particular, pointing to Luke’s alleged involvement in the Battle of Jakku.
The remnants of that conflict were littered throughout The Force Awakens, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) seeking shelter in a downed AT-AT.

But it seems Skywalker had a presence in said battle, as in Ken Liu’s “The Starship Graveyard,” a young crew member recounts a story she first heard from an Imperial officer who had fought under Emperor Palpatine:

"I did not see any rebel star cruisers that could have launched the beams. In fact, the shots all seemed to terminate in the steadily spinning hologram of the Jedi, his machine of death, that red-striped X-wing, hovering over him like a trained bird of prey or a magician’s familiar."

Star Wars Novel Claims Luke Is Able To Down Entire Star Destroyers

A claim that Mark Hamill’s wayward Jedi is able to down entire Star Destroyers using only the Force. Remember those sun-kissed metal corpses scattered across the Jakku desert? Turns out Luke may have been the one responsible for bringing the Empire’s fleet out of the sky.

A member of the Galactic Empire bears witness to Luke’s devastating power:

"The bridge went dark. The overhead lights, the view screens, the blinking lights on the banks of consoles. Even the emergency lighting strips on the floor. All around us was the darkness of space…I saw that the bridge windows were rapidly filling with expanding columns of energy… A jolt, as if the entire Star Destroyer had been picked up by a giant hand and slammed against the ground. The ship slowed, drifted, stopped and then the stark lifeless surface of Jakku swung into view, filling the windows, and we fell, we fell."

The finer details of Luke Skywalker’s self-imposed exile remain stowed away.

‘The Last Jedi’: Comic Book Containing Spoilers

‘The Last Jedi’: Mark Hamill Says To Avoid ‘Star Wars’ Comic Book Containing Spoilers.

star wars marvel 49 the last jedi

If you don’t want The Last Jedi spoiled for you, then you probably will want to stay away from the Star Wars comic books. Mark Hamill took to Twitter to warn fans — perhaps jokingly, perhaps not — that a 1977 comic book will spoil the upcoming installment of the franchise.

“I’m begging you! For your own good-DO NOT READ this spoiler-laden comic book before Friday December 15th 2017 You’ll thank me later,” Hamill tweeted.

Hamill did not let out any plot details of the aforementioned comic — which shares the same name of Episode VIII.  From his sense of urgency, it seems that it contains major plot points for The Last Jedi — or maybe it’s just a lighthearted joke that people are taking too seriously for the forthcoming movie directed by Rian Johnson.

First Look: Star Wars The Last Jedi Action Figures Have Arrived!

Force Friday II has been confirmed for a worldwide release on September 1st with action figures from the latest sequel, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Find the brand-new Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, Poe Dameron with removable helmet, Stormtrooper and Jedi Master Luke Skywalker.

These figures are exceptional, and I think you will agree that toy manufacturer Hasbro have outdone themselves with the new facial sculpts for Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren.
The only detraction is the representation of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. The facial rendering on the long-awaited figure leaves a lot to be desired, with very little resemblance to Mark Hamill, and considering a two-year wait for this figure…the reward is a little underwhelming.

The original AT-AT's were notoriously unstable and easy to bring down but, for the first time, clearly see how the new models have a clever modification.
The new AT-M6's have already been christened 'Gorilla Walkers.' They were already glimpsed in the battle shown in the Last Jedi teaser trailer, but these new images show that the front two feet are facing backwards, allowing a much stronger braced position.

BB-9E Droid: Star Wars The Last Jedi Action Figure

Sphero is introducing a BB-8 counterpart: BB-9E, a dark droid from the new movie, and R2-D2. It works in the same way Sphero's BB-8 toy does; users can drive BB-9E around, watch Star Wars movies with it, and have it patrol an area.

Their automated system relies on a Shazam-like software that listens for voice cues, so the droids know when to react. This means that even if you pause a movie, BB-9E knows where you left off.

Both R2-D2 and BB-9E work with the previously released Force Band controller, as well as the Sphero education app.

Snoke’s ship “Supremacy” and Resistance ship “Raddus” revealed!
by David Harris

The new Sphero droid BB-9E has a look at two all-new ships from Star Wars: The Last Jedi…

Sphero’s new app controlled droid BB-9E — the First Order’s BB unit, contains key descriptions.

Supreme Leader Snoke will emerge from the shadows.
“The Supremacy” will serve as Snoke’s “throne ship,” classified as “Mega-class” (the only ship bearing that classification) and is 60 kilometers — or 37 miles — in length.

There will be a Resistance ship named “The Raddus.”
BB-8 will patrol “The Raddus” using augmented reality. The ship will be a Mon Calamari class cruiser.

Snoke's Ship The Supremacy Revealed: Star Wars The Last Jedi

The First Order HQ is the only Mega-class Star Destroyer.

The First Order's headquarters for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been revealed.

Sphero's companion app has a tour of the bridge of Supreme Leader Snoke's ship, The Supremacy, as well as Snoke and his guards.

The Supremacy is the only Mega-class Star Destroyer, clocking in at 60 kilometers in length.
Snoke apparently keeps the ship hidden away in the Unknown Region's star systems.

With victory close at hand, Supreme Leader Snoke appears from the shadows to lead the First Order to potential dominance over the Resistance.

A new TIE Silencer featured in the background, a Death Star prominently pictured on the packaging.
This being an official item from The Last Jedi and the box stating this is “From the new film.”

If this is not a case of the toy manufacturers using a stock Star Wars Death Star image as a background
– this would be a shocking way to reveal such an element for The Last Jedi.

This could be a result of oversight on the part of Lucasfilm and Disney. It is possible they didn’t notice or clear the use of this background.
It was noticed that those TIEs are classic ships also, not the First Order's reverse color ones.

Cards & Book Reveal the Entire Plot: Star Wars The Last Jedi

Star Wars secrecy is legendary, and director Rian Johnson has assured us that there won't be any spoilers for The Last Jedi among the toys released.

Rian Johnson posted "Nah, unless seeing what characters & ships look like count, we were careful to make sure the toys & toy marketing don't spoil anything."

Topps has released a checklist that basically serves as a summary of the film's entire plot.
Also a "Look & Find" Star Wars book published by Disney debuted, which provided some information on how the film will open.

(Warning: spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to follow)

Here's the quote from the book...cue the opening music...

EPISODE VIII

THE LAST JEDI

"Starkiller Base is vanquished, but Kylo Ren has escaped.
Thanks to Rey and her friends, BB-8 brought Luke Skywalker’s
coordinates back to the Resistance.
On their behalf, Rey travels to the planet Ahch-To,
hoping to enlist Luke’s help.
While Rey persuades the last Jedi to join the Resistance...
Poe and BB-8 are taking part in a space battle over D'Qar"

Luke Is The Last Jedi
The last Jedi is Master Luke Skywalker himself, as has been long-speculated by many.

We've heard many times that The Last Jedi will pick up right where The Force Awakens Left off, showing us Rey's very first conversation with Luke Skywalker.
And now, we may know what this scene will cut to.

The Last Jedi cards reads as follows:

X-Wing fighter under-sea wreckage on Ahch-to.

    91 'Rey's Solitude'

    92 'General Leia Organa'

    93 'Rey and her Lightsaber'

    94 'On Crait'

    95 'Rushing to Attack'

    96 'Finn's Recovery'

    97 'Poe Responds'
What Poe Is Up To As The Movie Starts
Poe and BB-8 are taking part in a space battle over D'Qar, the location of the Resistance base.

Here's a quote taken directly from the book...

Meanwhile, Poe is busy doing some persuading of his own.
He and BB-8 are making runs through the First Order’s latest assault fleet to clear the way for the Resistance bomber squadron, headed by ace pilot Paige.

"BB-8 will keep the coordinates straight.
You look out for these First Order ships…"

Since the book only covers information from The Last Jedi's early scenes, we now know that this battle will occur very early on - possibly inside the first ten minutes.

98 'The Fury of Kylo Ren'

    99 'Shards of the Past'
Kylo reflects on what he's done.

    100 'Luke's Grim Perspective'
    101 'Ski Speeder Assault'

    102 'Walkers Incoming'

    103 'The Resistance'

    104 'The Resistance X-wing'
    105 'The Resistance A-wing'

    106 'The Battle Commences'
    107 'Frigates Under Fire'

108 'The Resistance Vs The First Order'

    109 'The Millennium Falcon Flees'

    110 'Heroes United'

It looks like the film will focus around two major battles.
One presumably ends in the First Order's defeat, hence 'The Fury of Kylo Ren' – perhaps this is the rumoured battle between Rey/Luke and Kylo/The Knights of Ren.

Things might not turn out so well for the Resistance,
though, based on a card titled 'The Millennium Falcon Flees'...
