The Start of Episode VIII Revealed (Maybe)

Anonymous sources a new rumor claiming to reveal just how the movie will start for one character, at least.

Despite ending the previous movie in a coma, Finn will apparently start Episode VIII being cut from a “bacta suit” that will have not only healed his injuries, but left him in better shape than he was in before, prepping him for something described as “a journey that is sure to make him a big deal in the Resistance.”

JJ Abrams Finally Explains What Kylo Ren Was Thinking In That Pivotal Han Solo Scene

from J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens commentary, the director stated that when the father and son met on that bridge, Kylo was actually being convinced by Han to walk away from the dark side. However, he eventually realized that there was no turning back from the path he had chosen.

In Abrams' words:
     
People have asked me if I think that Kylo Ren was just playing with him the whole time, if
he meant to kill him from the beginning. And the truth is, I think Kylo Ren, in this moment, is
actually being convinced to walk away from this. Snoke is, as Han says, using him, and I think
that somewhere Ben knows this. But I think that he can't accept it. Deep down, he has gone too far.

J.J. Abrams continued by saying that he received help from Jon Kasdan, son of longtime Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan, to make sure there was a lot of "raw emotion and uncertainty" in the scene. The video ends with the director wisely pointing out that any time two Star Wars characters meet on a thin bridge without any safety railings that's "10 miles above the ground," it won't end well.

One scene that perfectly encapsulates that idea is Rey's Force vision at Maz Kanata's cantina. It was a fantastic scene, but what exactly happened? Now it seems that J.J. Abrams has some answers.
In the new Blu-ray release commentary, he said:
     
In this scene she is drawn to this place, almost like Cinderella. And she goes to this box, which, when she opens, she discovers something that of course has no meaning to her -- she's never seen this before, doesn't know what it is -- but has meaning to the audience. ... We wanted [this scene] to be a more personal story. Something that she couldn't comprehend that was overwhelming to her, frightening to her. That was taking her through all of these elemental experiences. Of fire. Of rain, snow [and] wind. But also that she was being confronted with truths about The Force, about the past, the Knights of Ren here, the past for herself. She realizes the cries that she heard were actually her own cries as a young girl being taken away from her family. And then she hears a voice. 'Rey.' 
And that's Obi-wan Kenobi.

J.J. Abrams addressed Rey's bizarre visions during her brief time at Maz' cantina towards the end of the second act of the film. He explained that the vision acts as a sort of indoctrination process to compel the young girl to face the realities of the galaxy and The Force.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story A REBELLION BUILT ON HOPE Trailer

The final trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" premiered giving viewers their third glimpse of the Disney film before it hits theaters in December.

The trailer included firefights between the rebellion's X-Wings and the Empire's battle stations in space and on different planets.
It also included more looks at Darth Vader and delved deeper into Felicity Jones' character, Jyn Erso.
"Rebellions are built on hope," Erso tells her troops, giving a subtle nod to the title from the 1977 original, "Star Wars: A New Hope."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Shows Off Costumes And Weapons

The movie Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, will center on a Rebel Alliance mission to steal plans for the Death Star.

The Imperial Shuttle, the TIE-Strikers and the AT-ACTs will play major roles in repelling the Rebels.

"A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One."

The spinoff will take place after the Jedi order was wiped out in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, there will be no Jedi warriors in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. Felicity Jones is playing a Rebel Alliance warrior in the film.

The idea for these anthology films came from George Lucas himself, with a story that originated from John Knoll, visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic.
Kathleen Kennedy said, "It was really George's idea, not only picking up the saga again - which he never envisioned he would do... he was really interested in exploring all the stories that might exist within the universe."

Star Wars: Rogue One Shows Off Costumes And Weapons
A number of costumes for the next adventure in that far, far away galaxy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, are going public In January at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

Rogue One is set in the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and these costumes look very much like they could have been lifted right out of the original trilogy.

The hooded coat and gloves outfit is the one worn by Diego Luna’s character.
Wherever they are, it’s likely to be cold as all hell. Though there are some differences, this is very similar in appearance to Han Solo’s attire on the ice planet Hoth. And that blaster he has looks rather sturdy.

home planet of Yar Togna.
Edrio Two Tubes is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Benthic. The two share
the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows their Tognath physiology to
process oxygen atmospheres. Edrio's home world Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the
Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. Desiring to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera.

Darth Vader's Back, And Badder Than Ever
Birth.Movies.Death. reports that Darth Vader will have a big presence in the spinoff, but stopped short of calling him the main antagonist. Instead, the Sith Lord is expected to be working behind the scenes, and will be seen via display screens and holograms. It’s also unclear whether the main protagonists will run into Vader during their adventures.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will see him ratchet up his tactics when it comes to his favourite pastime: crushing the rebel scum.
'The action sequences filmed are unknown, but there was work pitching the different ways Darth Vader could kill rebels on a battlefield with the Force and his lightsaber. The storyboard “pitches” showed decapitated rebels, people being dismembered by Vader throwing his sword, levitating bodies to make human shields, and so on. The art was more violent than what we’ve seen Darth Vader do on screen before.'

Making Star Wars previously reported that James Earl Jones will reprise the role.

Star Wars: Rogue One follows a group of Rebel soldiers that unite on a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans. The cast consists of Felicity Jones as the lead hero, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker. Disney and Lucasfilm showed the first teaser trailer for the film at Star Wars Celebration in April, and it’s been described as darker and more grounded than its predecessors.

The original concept art for Rogue One suggests we'll see a grittier side to the conflict, showing rebels and stormtroopers battling on a war-torn planet.

Star Wars Episode VIII: Script Leak Hints at Luke Skywalker's Origin

The filming for Star Wars Episode VIII, the untitled sequel to The Force Awakens , has been completed but an alleged script leak hints at Luke Skywalker's origin.

Luke walked through a chamber into a narrow corridor where he senses the presence of something that he has not felt since he was in the Death Star – face-to-face with Emperor Palpatine. As the son of Darth Vader opens the door at the end of the corridor, he meets supreme leader Snoke.

It appears Rey has been kidnapped by the forces of the supreme leader and Luke has come to her rescue. Luke apparently confronts the Force-sensitive male humanoid alien, but instead of telling him the whereabouts of Rey, Snoke lures him with information regarding the origins of his family and claims that he had seen Anakin in his early days.

When questioned by the Jedi Master, Snoke ends the scene saying: "Of course. After all, what father doesn't see his own creation?"

Star Wars Episode VIII: Script Leak Explains Who Rey Might Really Be

We’ve got alleged script leaks and a new report seems to reveal who Rey is with dialogue between
Luke, Rey and Yoda during a vision that explains the history of the Jedi Order.

Luke tells Rey that she’s got a choice to make, and if she is to make it, then she deserves to know the truth.

Together with Yoda, they embark on a vision that shows Rey the past. Rey finds out that there were two young children exploring a planet with their parents. “The boy noticed that he had greater strength and intuition when he was closer to the tree,” the allegedly leaked script reads. “The girl noticed it gave him focus, but equally anger.”

“Over the next few years, they kept returning to the tree and hiding their secrets from their parents. They found they could control simple objects around them, and over time gained greater experience of the Fight,” the script goes on – this is likely what Luke and Yoda would tell Rey.

Then an argument ensued, and the boy killed the girl. Riddled with guilt, he noticed he could still feel her. “He touched the tree, he was transformed,” they tell Rey. “Filled with anger and rage at being brought to the planet he killed his parents and left the planet.”

That’s when things get interesting, as we all find out that the girl found out she was one with the tree, and so she touched the tree, and she was transformed too. Witnesses saw everything, and so the Jedi Order was born.

The girl explained to other Jedi how the Force can be used for both good and evil, and she then told them she will return one day, and she will be either a boy or a girl. Whatever the case, they should seek her and train her.

The Jedi Order apparently spent millennia looking for The One, training millions of children to use the Force. None of them turned out to be the One, not even Darth Vader. The order was deceived, and Darth Vader killed almost all Jedi in the Clone Wars.

Following this vision, Luke and Yoda show her who her parents are, and Luke isn’t her father.
Apparently, she was identified by someone as strong with the Force and should have reached a certain destination to commence her training. However, she never reached that destination, “and the rest you know,” they tell her.

Rogue One: Using A Star Wars Actor Who Was Cut From Episode 3

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer is a beautiful and stunning mix of new and classic Star Wars imagery. One of the things that made us all do a double take was seeing the character of Mon Mothma make an appearance as the character who gives Jyn Erso her mission. But wait, that’s not the same actress who played the role in Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, but rather it’s actress Genevieve O’Reilly, who’s actually playing the role for the second time.

The character of Mon Mothma is best known as the woman who gives the briefing on the Death Star attack in Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi. If you’ve been through your prequel trilogy DVDs, you also know that the character was supposed to make an appearance, playing a young senator in Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith. As Entertainment Weekly point out, Genevieve O’Reilly was the actress who played the part, though the scene was eventually cut from the final version of the film.

In Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Mon Mothma was a young Senator, but now, more than 10 years after that film was released, Genevieve O’Reilly is a little older, and the perfect age to play the older Mon Mothma, just a few years before we would see her in Return of the Jedi.

It was reported last year that The Sith Lord would feature in the movie and Vader will in fact be played by Spencer Wilding, a British stunt actor who has worked on Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Who and Batman Begins.

Wilding has been running lines on set, but his voice will be replaced by James Earl Jones.
